Top 10 ODI Batsman In 2017
Cricket has been in its best form this year in 2017. Some unique records were made in this year and some were broken. ICC has recently released the name of TOP ten ODI players of the year and we list for you the top players.
1) Virat Kohli
This has been a dream year for Virat Kohli. He became the only batsman to have 50 plus score across all formats of the game and according to latest ICC update he is the number one ODI batsman. He has also led his team from the front and became the captain who has the highest successful venture in the history of the game. He scored the highest score ever by an Indian captain and has already 53 international tons. No doubt why he will not top the chart.
2) AB De Villiers
After Kohli, just a few points less comes to the South African batsman Ab De Villiers. De Villiers has become more influential with his bat as soon as he left captaincy across all formats of the game. He smashed almost 584 runs and was successful in washing out Sri Lanka. But had a bad performance in Champions Trophy that led to his early exit.
3) David Warner
The Australian batsman has been in full power this year. Though Australia lost to India still Warner had a good series in hand. In also the recently concluded Ashes series he has played a major role to win the urn. His aggressive style at the top spot of the team has always been unmatched and surreal.
4) Babar Azam
This Pakistani batsman Babar Azam and the young cricketer has made news all round for his clinical performances. People have also started comparing him to Virat Kohli. When Babar Azam notched up his 5th ODI ton against West Indies in his 25th innings in early 2017, he became the second quickest after Quinton De Kock to score five ODI tons. His aggregate of 1306 runs after 25 knocks tallied the highest, beating Jonathan Trott.
5) Rohit Sharma
No doubt Rohit had a prolific year. In the recently concluded ODI against Sri Lanka, Rohit captained the side due to the absence of Kohli and he batted in full power. He completed the second double ton of his career. He also scored the fastest century in the international game going past AB De Villiers in just 35 balls. He also posted a clinical performance along with Dhawan in Champions Trophy but failed in finals against Pakistan.
6) Quinton De Kock
He is one of the best batsmen in recent times in the world. The feats that he has achieved at such a young age is really incredible. He started off with a couple of hundreds against England at home before emerging as South Africa's highest run-getter in the World T20. It will be interesting to see his stint against India at the starting of 2018.
7) Joe Root
Root is depicted as one such great batsman of this age. He took over the captaincy from Alastair Cook in February 2017. He scored well this year, tons of tests and few sensible ODI knocks. But failed to lead England well in the recently concluded Ashes.
8) Faf Du Plessis
He has seen a lot of ups and downs in his career and also captained South Africa in the shortest formats of the game. He had a good year so far and though the Proteas had an early Champions Trophy exit still he was good with his bat but a team performance was what went missing.
9) Hashim Amla
No doubt South Africa had a great year and the result being so many Africana flocking the list. Amla is a legend already and a master of making and breaking records. He also holds the record for being the fastest ever to 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000, and 6000 ODI runs.
10) Kane Williamson
Another greatest of times is none other than New Zealand captain Kane Williamson. Though New Zealand didn't have a good year the captain had his chance with his willow. They lost against India on their tour but came back strong against Bangladesh and Pakistan
